An Uncomforting Comfort Food Experience

Steak Pie with Gravy and Rice Pilaf

Sometimes, all you really want to eat is something nice and stodgy and utterly comforting. In such cases, only a British-style meat pie will do.

However, I would suggest that you try to veer away from Eat & Go at the Megamall. As tempting as their offerings may seem, the steak pie pictured here is too stodgy for comfort. For one thing, there were far more potatoes than beef. For another, instead of being served hot, it came to my tray in a rather tepid state.

The only thing that saved it from becoming totally mediocre was the curried rice pilaf which was quite flavorful: spicy and nutty-tasting at the same time.

Still, not even the thought of a salmon-and-spinach pie can persuade me to come back here.
