A Breakfast Gone Nuts

Nutty Breakfast Smoothie

The weather has been so bad in the sense that it’s already unbearably hot come seven in the morning.  That said, I haven’t really had that much appetite for solid food, preferring to guzzle down cold water, lemonade, and iced tea in copious amounts just to cool down.

But a girl needs something filling in the morning just to be able to keep heat-induced sluggishness at bay.  So when you’re ready to throw in the towel and scream at the heat, may I suggest this delectably nutty breakfast smoothie?

It’s a very simple affair, really: instant coffee, milk, a ripe banana, and a tablespoon each of peanut butter and Nutella.  Blitz and you’re good to go – even if the day continues sweltering hot.

Nutty Breakfast Smoothie

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 sachet 3-in-1 coffee
  • several ice cubes
  • 1-1/2 cups cold milk (plain or chocolate) or ready-to-drink bottled cafe-au-lait
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter

Throw all the ingredients into a blender and blitz for a minute and a half or till properly liquefied and frothy.  Pour into a tall glass.  Makes 1 large smoothie.
