Quick Post: A Satisfying Meal on the Cheap

Flaming Hot's P 69.00 Liempo Plate

The Philippines is one of the few places in the world where you can actually eat well for US$ 2.00 – or even less.

Case in point: this pork liempo (belly) plate from Flaming Hot at the SM Megamall Food Court.  For a mere P 69.00 (US$ 1.54), you get a generous helping of savory Java rice, a slab of grilled pork belly, and an equally hefty side dish.  (In this case, I opted for a salad made with fried eggplant, diced tomatoes, onions, and jicama dressed with peppered vinegar.)

It makes for a substantial meal, but it won’t make that big a dent in your budget.  😉
