Real Barbecued Chicken – at a Fast Food Joint?!?

THIGHS!

While Jollibee is the go-to fast food place for most Pinoys who want localized rush fare, it’s not exactly a place where you’d go for grilled things.  And then you see their Jolly Chicken Barbecue on the menu.

Jolly Chicken Barbecue is nothing like the BBQ Rods being flogged by another fast food chain.  For one thing, these babies are really grilled – no nonsense about drenching chunks of battered and fried chicken in barbecue sauce here.  You get real poultry with some serious grill marks and charring going on.

Another thing I like about the chicken barbecue here is the fact that you get dark meat – thighs and legs!  While most people prefer white meat in their fried chicken baskets, many Filipinos insist that the fattier, richer dark meat be slapped over coals and cooked to juicy, mouth-watering perfection.  That’s exactly what you get here – and, in my case, I always seem to get a double-thigh portion every single time I’ve ordered it.  😉

It’s not quite on the same level as, say, Reyes Barbecue.  But if you’re craving real grilled chicken and haven’t the time to wait, this is something that’s definitely up your alley.
