In Which a Brownie Goes Seriously Overboard…

Flourless Chocolate Brownie

There are brownies.  And there are brownie-style cookies.  And there are incredibly fudgy chocolate cakes that can pass off for brownies.  And then there’s this little monster from Starbucks: a flourless chocolate brownie.

When you buy it, it’s fridge-cold and kinda hard to bite into.  Never fear: just let it warm down to room temp and it’s ready for munching…

Buttercream + fudge + walnuts = MADNESS

…or, more like taking a tiny bite into and just letting it melt in your mouth.  What you get is a mouthful of salty-sweet chocolate buttercream icing, sweet (almost overly sweet) chocolate fudge, and just enough walnuts to add crunch to what might end up an overly chewy-creamy confection.

I don’t recommend this for an everyday coffee-break treat: far too calorific and much too rich for it, as a matter of fact.  As an occasional indulgence, it rates a maybe even from a hardened gourmand like me – and, even then, only if it goes with a plain hot latte.
