In Which There are Sweet, Wee Spoonfuls…

Choco Banana Pie

There are times when you crave for something sweet at the end of a meal but aren’t exactly in the mood for a cone-full of swirly soft-serve ice cream.  Unfortunately, on the opposite side of the spectrum, something as gloriously stodgy as a bowl piled three thick slices deep with sticky date pudding topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with both chocolate and butterscotch isn’t cranking your chain, either.

The good news is that most fast-food chains offer a choice of sweets for a pittance and, believe it or not, they’re more than a little passable.

Seen from the side...

KFC recently introduced its Streetwise Spoonfuls.  For just P 29.00 apiece, you can choose from a nifty selection of individually portioned desserts: choco banana pie, chocolate mousse, chocolate tiramisu, and mango cheesecake.

I’ve tried the choco banana pie which is a gooey little treat involving bananas cooked in caramel, fudge sauce, banana custard, graham cracker crumbs, and chocolate cookie crumbs.  Not really a gourmet treat, but it does fix those  cravings.

Hot Fudge and Caramel Duo

Slightly pricier at P 40.00 but certainly a bit heftier is McDonald’s hot fudge and caramel duo sundae.  Think the usual sundae, only slightly bigger with layers of both chocolate fudge and buttery caramel between frosty layers of vanilla soft-serve.

Not the healthiest of treats, I know, but it’s a lovely thing to have after a stressful day.  😉
